Exodus 20:1-17
Psalm 19
Matthew 13:18-23
“But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it…” Mt. 13:23
Lord, we can be overwhelmed with the amount of information that is pushed on us each day. News is now around the clock on multiple devices. We have a phone with us everywhere we go. It seems we are surrounded by the noise of the world and there are few places of escape. In that environment it can be difficult to eliminate the distractions that can block your still, quiet voice. I believe you wish to connect with me all the time. I believe that your word is truth and can change my life. But there is so much competition out there to my receiving it. Lord, make my heart a fertile place for your word to blossom and grow. Help me to find a quiet place in my day to allow you to speak to me and to bless me with your loving message. Strip me of the rocky ground in my heart. Move me to turn off the TV, shut down the computer and to silence the cell phone so that I can clearly listen to whatever you wish to tell me. I come to you in prayer, dear Jesus, may the seed of your word bear fruit in my life today. Amen.
