Sirach 51:12-20

Psalm 19

Mark 11:27-33

When I was young and innocent, I sought wisdom openly in my prayer…Sir. 51:13

“By what authority are you doing these things?” Mk. 11:28

Lord, you made quite a dramatic entry into Jerusalem. You then disrupted the commerce of the temple. The religious establishment was very concerned that you would lure the people away from them. They asked “who do you think you are to come into our city and challenge our authority and position?” Lord, we can become quite comfortable with the status quo. We find security in our ways of doing things. We like being in control. But when we open our hearts and minds to your wisdom we are changed. Change can be hard. It can be difficult to let go of the familiar and trust that you know what’s good for us. Am I afraid to let go of what I depend upon and embrace whatever you desire? Dare I ask in prayer to be pruned of what is not pleasing to you or to look for your wisdom rather than mine? You are my loving Lord with all the authority of God. Help me to today to be open to all you want to do in my life. With your grace I can let go of the old and accept the new you offer.  Amen.
