Acts of the Apostles: 28:16-20, 30-31

Psalm 11

John 21:20-25

…Paul proclaimed the Kingdom Of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.  Acts 28:31

“You follow me.”  John 28:22

Lord, Peter had questions about what would happen in the future  You didn’t reveal to him what the future held for him or the disciples. You did however reveal what was expected of him.  Your plan for your infant church was for Peter and the others to do what you did. You looked for them to proclaim the good news of God’s love for all people of every nation. You wanted believers to be baptized and to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. You wanted Peter to lead with compassion and mercy as you did. Lord, there is so much about your life and your plan for us that is shrouded in mystery. But I do know that you have the same command for me: to follow you even to Calvary and the cross. Your grace can heal my wounded heart and lead me to live a holy and faithful life for you. I don’t need to know the future to be your loyal disciple. I only need to surrender to the Father’s will like you did. I only need to love like you did. With your help I can stay close to you until the end like Peter and Paul.  Amen
