…we proclaim Christ crucified… 1 Cor. 1:23
Lord, what kind of a God allows himself to be hung on a cross? This question has been an obstacle to many people through the ages. The answer is: an obedient Son who loves us beyond measure. A Son who is perfectly in tune with the will of his Father. A Son who desires above all the salvation of mankind. Every time I look at you on the cross, dear Lord, I see what you chose to do for me. I see that you said “yes” to give yourself up to death so I could live. What is my response to your sacrifice? There are many responses: obedience to your commandments, belief in your faithfulness, love of you and the Father, and love of my neighbor. Dear Jesus, I place all I am, all I have, and all the sufferings of my life at your feet on the cross. I beg for the grace to nail my sins to your cross. I will walk with you to Calvary and there unite myself to your sacrifice. Dear Jesus, I pray this Lent will bring me closer to you and your resurrection. Amen.
