Micah 6:1-4, 6-8

Psalm 50

Matthew 12:38-42

You have been told, O man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you: Only to do the right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

“He that offer praise as a sacrifice glorifies me; and to him that goes the right way I will show the salvation of God.” Psalm 50:23

Lord, sometimes it’s good for us to get back to basics. Your prophet Micah gets real basic with his verse today. If we ever wanted a simple summary of what God wants out of us this is it. It’s a great starting point for someone just beginning their walk with God. In fact, it’s a quote that should be on everyone’s refrigerator door or bathroom mirror. I would be smart to start my day with this intention each morning. Lord, show me today to do right and how to love goodness. I can get distracted by my busyness and become confused about right or wrong by listening to the ways of the world. I will keep your word foremost in my mind and love of you in my heart. I will look for your presence in the events of the day and in the people I meet. Help me to see my faults and to rely on your grace to steer myself away from temptation. I praise you for your goodness to me and trust in your mercy to pick me up when I fall. I want to walk humbly with you today for with you at my side it’ll be a great day.  Amen.
