Lamentations 2,:10-14, 18-19

Psalm 74

Matthew 8:5-17

“You may go; as you have believed, let it be done for you,” Mt. 8:13

Lord, there is much to admire about this pagan soldier. He loved his servant enough to seek out a Jewish healer. Most other officers would not have been concerned and would let the slave die and get another one. He respected Jewish culture which forbids you from entering his home. He believed in your power to heal even from a distance with only a word. Lord, I’ve found myself putting restrict limitations on your love and healing power. I pray for the humility, the heart and the faith of this centurion. His trust and confidence we recall at every Mass throughout the world every day when we say: “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof, only say the word and my soul will be healed.” You pointed to this man as a good example for me to follow. Lord, I pray for healing for myself and my family. I lift up to you all those suffering from the covid-19, fear, hopelessness or despair. I trust that you can forgive, heal and extend your mercy to all with only a word. I humbly make this prayer in your name.  Amen.
