“From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me…” 2 Timothy 4:8
Lord, what wonderful news—a crown of glory awaits me when I have finished the race. Sure beats a cheap ribbon! It’s the same crown that you’ve given to those great saints Peter and Paul. Their lives prove that you can bring forth holiness and great faith from simple and very imperfect people. They made a lot of mistakes, yet you never gave up on them. You kept forming them and forgiving them and cheering them on. Lord, I’ll never be famous for my faith in the eyes of the world like they are. However, I trust you won’t give up on me either. I can count on you to continue to bring me to the end of my race. Lord, keep me faithful and running for your sake and to never tire. I look forward to the finish line and the crown that awaits. St. Peter and St. Paul pray for us. Amen.
