…the Spirit is given for some benefit. 1 Cor 12:7
Lord, like you breathed life into Adam, you breathed the Holy Spirit of new life into your disciples and to us. The same Spirit which has continued the work you began in us. For whose benefit did you give the Spirit, yours or ours? Maybe both? You benefit because your Spirit gives life to your children-the abundant life you promised. You did not leave us orphans for your presence stays with us. You only want the very best for us. You are still close even when we don’t see you. We benefit because your Spirit provides all the strength to live, to work, to pray, to endure. We benefit because your Spirit brings us into the right relationship with you and all others who believe. No doubt, this gift is truly a difference maker in every corner of my life. I trust that whatever the Spirit inspires within me is for my benefit and for those around me. Thank you for giving the sign of your forgiveness and mercy to your disciples and to the priests of our parish in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Lord, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth. Alleluia Amen
