Acts 15:7-21

Psalm 96

John 15:9-11

“And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the Holy Spirit just as he did us.”  Acts 15:8

Lord, how well you know the human heart.  So much of what we do and who we are comes out of our mysterious hearts.  It can be the source of the good, the bad and the ugly.  Your early followers made a huge break with the past when they accepted Gentiles as brothers and sisters in faith.  This truly was a revelation of the human heart.  It shows the power of the Holy Spirit to transform the hearts that are open.  Lord, we can really be “set in our ways” as we age.  Our hearts can be hard or closed to how you desire to form them.  Help me to be open to your Spirit today.  Soften my heart to be like yours: merciful and compassionate.  Whether I need to change a little or a lot, I surrender my heart to your grace.  I trust you will guide me to rely on you.  Let me not resist new ideas and new ways of living that give you honor.  I am open today, Lord, to whatever you desire.  Amen.
