Lord, twice in the same verse you assure us that you are listening to and will respond to our petitions. I’m sure you know that this can be a hard saying for us because we remember the times when we asked for something in your name and we waited and watched for your response. I know you are aware of all our needs and that you are a good and gracious God. Do we not ask rightly? Do we ask for things that are not good for us? Do we ask for too much, or too little? Maybe you know of a better answer to our prayer and when you provide it we miss it. Or maybe we need to wait a little while until we are ready for your answer. Lord, I thank you for all the ways you will bless and care for me today; ways known and unknown. Clear my eyes to see your faithful goodness and purify my prayers to make them holy. St. Athanasius pray for us. Amen
