Ecclesiastes 11:9-12:8
Psalm 90
Luke 9:43-45
“Pay attention to what I am telling you.” Luke 9:44
Lord, when someone speaks to me their words can “go in one ear and out the other”. I can be distracted, tired or not interested in what is said and miss the message. But I will get it if I give them my full attention. You have so much to tell me, Lord. As often as I hear and read the scriptures, they can become routine and ordinary to me. I can fail to ponder the deeper message of your familiar words and deeds. I can fail to receive the truth which you want for me. I can miss the beauty and majesty of what is on your heart for me. Lord, my prayer today is for the grace to slow down my hectic pace and be still and quiet today so your word can seep into my heart. I pray your desire for me can move me to experience the deeper meaning of your words. Help me to let your word get personal as though you are speaking only to me. Dear Jesus, be the way, the truth, and the life to me today. Amen.
