June 8, 2024, Saturday, THE IMMACULATE HEART OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Psalm 71 or 1 Samuel 2:1, 4-8
Luke 2:41-51
“Why were you looking for me”? Luke 2:49
Lord, any parent can understand completely the anxiety and worry Joseph and Mary had when they couldn’t find you. Losing a child is every parent’s worst nightmare. It seems a bit strange that you would ask them this question and not sympathize with their concern. It probably seemed odd to them as they were confused by your response. It was a very human, twelve-year-old thing to experiment with independence. Your mother Mary’s heart pondered and treasured all the events, miracles, words, and sufferings of your life. She truly is the most blest of all women. Even today because of your sacrifice on the cross her love of you extends to us her children. Love of a mother is a most precious love, and it never ends. We are so blessed to be her children as she holds each one of us close to her heart. Thank you for giving us such a pure, loving, and holy Mother. May we never be lost from her care. Our Blessed Mother, pray for us. Amen.
