1 John 2:29—3:6

Psalm 98

John 1:29-34

Beloved, we are God’s children now… 1 John 3:2

Lord, to be the child of someone who is rich and famous is normally a blessing.  The child of a great athlete, CEO or movie star has everything they need.  They know that one day they will inherit the fortune from their parent; a fortune they did not earn.  Lord, what a wonderful honor it is to be your child.  You have adopted me and I have inherited a fortune in grace and blessings.  I have all I need to live as your child now.  I have your word in scripture to guide me as I grow in faith.  I have your sacraments to nourish me and cleanse me at every stage of my life.  I have the awesome traditions of your church to focus my mind and heart on you.  And I have the example of the lives of your saints to follow.  Most of all you have given me a Mother in Mary to intercede for me with you.  I know you hear the cries of all your children and give them all they need to inherit the wealth of eternal life.  I even have your imprint on my soul from Baptism.  Thank you for adopting me as your own.  Amen.
