October 28, 2023 Saturday of the 29th Week in Ordinary Time-A STS SIMON, JUDE APOSTLES
Ephesians 2:19-22
Psalm 19
Luke 6:12-16
…you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God. Eph 2:19
Lord, many enjoy exploring and tracing their ancestors. Discovering the identities of the members of our family tree can be a rewarding and fun pastime. It helps us know who has gone before us and how we became who we are. Our spiritual family tree is even more important than our human one. It is through the men and women who have nourished faith and trust in you for more than two thousand years that we can claim our faith today. Without their faithfulness and perseverance in continuing what was started by your hand-picked Apostles the Church would not exist. I have as spiritual family people of every race and background. I stand upon the foundation of myriads of holy saints, most of whose names are unknown to me, that pray for me and support my journey of faith. Dear Jesus, you are the capstone which holds this whole assembly together. I thank you for allowing me to be in your family. May I be an important link to those who come after me and continue the tradition begun so long ago. St. Simon and St. Jude pray for us. Amen.
