Jeremiah 18:18-20

Psalm 31

Matthew 20:17-28

“…mocked and scourged and crucified…”  Matthew 20:19

Lord, its human nature to want to get to heaven by the easiest road we can find. We know in our hearts that to be your follower that the cross comes before the resurrection. We are aware that, like you, accepting suffering is part and parcel of obedience to the will of the Father. Lord, I believe you don’t find joy in my suffering. But you are pleased when I humbly accept it and use it to come closer to you. Help me to look for your grace in the trials and pain in life. Teach me, Lord, to unite my cross with yours. Keep my eyes fixed firmly on you and to always remember how much you love me. I may complain and look for the quickest way out of any suffering that comes my way. Remind me how you use it to complete the Father’s plan. Lord, pull me in close to your sacred heart for I entrust my heart to yours. Without you, I know I will fail and will fall short. I look forward with all my heart, dear Jesus, to sharing in your glorious resurrection.  Amen.
