January 28, 2023, Saturday of the 3rd Week in Ordinary Time-A ST. THOMAS AQUINAS, PRIEST, DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH

Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-19

Psalm Luke 1:69-75

Mark 4:35-41

“Why are you terrified?  Do you not yet have faith?”  Mark 4:40

Lord, we aren’t told how your disciples answered your questions. How would I reply if you asked me these same questions? Would you expect an answer? I think you already know my answer. Your point in these questions is that fear and faith are incompatible. They can’t live together. I admit at times it appears to me that you are sleeping in the stern of my boat. I may even wonder, like the Apostles, if you care about the storms in my life. Lord, my prayer today is for an increase in the gift of faith you have blessed me with. I realize faith grows through practicing it so exercise my faith even if it involves permitting a storm or two into my life. So, Lord, give me the courage to step out in faith a little bit more each day. Give me the eyes of faith to see your hand in all that happens to me today. You are my trustworthy Lord. Like Mary, help me to say “yes” to the unknown and uncertain, knowing you are always with me.  St. Thomas Aquinas pray for me.  Amen.
