Isaiah 26:1-6

Psalm 118

Matthew 7:21, 24-27

Trust in the Lord forever!  For the Lord is an eternal Rock.  Isaiah 26:4

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.”  Matthew 7:24

Lord, strong, secure foundations are necessary for every building. We remember the images of houses built near the beach collapsing during recent hurricanes. Your word today encourages us to build our lives on the foundation of your word and of you. On what is my life built? To what do I anchor my days? Is following the will of God first and foremost for me?  Does everything I do flow from my trust in you? The world tells me to build my house on achievement, wealth, pleasure, power and control. They are like sand that can be washed away in a storm and will not support me to the end. Lord, deep inside I know you don’t care at all how much money or power or influence I have. You care how I live in humility, obedience, and faithfulness. You want me to trust you and not the world. Lord, my prayer today is that I rely more upon you than on myself. I look forward to your Holy Spirit guiding my decisions and actions this day. Jesus, I trust you as my foundation. Be my rock, Lord.  Amen.
