Acts 22:30; 23:6-11
Psalm 16
John 17:20-26“…that they all may be one…” John 17:21
Lord, it must have been of utmost importance to you to pray to your Father for unity among your disciples just hours before your arrest, torture and execution. You prayed we would be one with you as you are with your Father and one with each other. We hear you plead for unity to our Father in today’s word. You’re right, there is a lot of division and discord in our world. The root of this disharmony is sin-selfishness, pride, power and control seeking, jealousy and fear among others. It’s easy to look at other people and find fault and accuse them of causing strife. I can’t change them. But I can look inward and see what within me separates me from your other children. Lord, show me today what will bring me closer to you so I can live closer to those I disagree with, those who would wish me harm and those who choose paths other than the one I walk. Little by little make me one with you and your children. Amen
