Acts 1:15-17, 20-26

Psalm 113

John 15:9-17

“It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you…”  John 15:16

Lord, what an honor to be chosen by you for friendship. Did you have your eye on Matthias during the time he followed you? He was destined for greatness although he didn’t know it. Your grace did the rest.  You have chosen me despite all my faults, weaknesses and shortcomings. In this world, only the best, brightest and strongest are chosen for big things. But in your kingdom, all of us have value and can be a part of your grand plan for all mankind to receive the abundant life. What work have you chosen me for?  What place in your kingdom do you have reserved for me? Who is the next person that you will lead me to meet so I can share the joy of your resurrection? Lord, I surely want to be faithful to this calling. I ask you to make holy and perfect my small and sometimes half-hearted responses to your call.  Lead me to greater awareness of how, today, I can be your witness. With your grace I’m made ready for whatever you have chosen me to be or do. St. Matthias pray for us.  Amen.
