… they were startled and terrified… Lk 24:37
Lord, there are so many things in this world that can startle and terrify us: terrorism, violence, severe weather, sickness, death and more. I wasn’t there so I wonder why your friends were so frightened when you appeared to them in the upper room and offered them the gift of peace. You showed them your wounds, let them touch you, and even ate a meal with them. Their disbelief turned to joy and amazement when they realized that it really was you coming to them at this moment of turmoil. Lord, come to me in the turmoil of my life. I am beset with doubt, sickness, hurtful relationships, poverty of spirit and more. I grieve for loved ones no longer with me and some days I have a hopeless feeling that just won’t go away. I so need your peace and to know that you are with me every step of the way. Lord, today be as close to me as you were to your disciples so long ago. It gives me peace to know that you are my Advocate before our Father. Thank you Lord for answering all my prayers. Amen
