Hebrews 2:14-18
Psalm 105
Mark 1:29-39
“..for this purpose have I come.” So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons… Mk. 1:39
Lord, at this early point in your ministry you clearly were effective in healing and driving out demons. The people hung on every word of your teaching. You were wildly popular and touched the people right where they needed it. They were hungry for your attention. You also showed your followers the place of prayer to the Father which was always a priority for you even if it meant loss of sleep after an exhausting day. Lord, you are truly ready and willing to minister and teach us today. At every Mass we ask for forgiveness of sin and freedom from the demons which possess us. Today’s demons are such things like addiction to drugs, alcohol and pornography. Domestic violence and child abuse are all around us. Selfishness and apathy hold us back from holiness. At every Mass we hear your word and are taught and guided by your teaching. Then we receive what the people of your time did not. We are fed with the Eucharist which is your body and blood. So you are present to us as you were to the people in the towns of Galilee. May I always be grateful for all you give me at every Mass. Amen.
