“Do you realize what I have done for you?” John 13:12
Lord, when two people are in love they show it. You loved the chosen people and liberated them from bondage in Egypt. You loved your disciples so much you washed their feet to liberate them from sin. You gave the Israelites the Passover meal to remember their shining moment forever. You gave us the Sacrament of your Body and Blood to be present with us forever. Neither the chosen people nor the disciples probably realized at the moment all you had done for them. We don’t just remember this evening when we come to Mass, we relive it. You give yourself to us at each Mass. Heaven and earth are connected at each Mass. We give ourselves to you at each Mass. Lord, help me to fully realize the awesome gift of love that is the Eucharist. As you would soon give your life on the cross, you give all of yourself, body, blood, soul and divinity in each and every Mass around the world. Dear Jesus, wash away my failures to live up to your great sacrifice. Thank you for this great sign of your love for me. Amen.
