The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority… Mk 1:21
Lord, it seems today everyone has an agenda. Politicians, entertainers, college professors, even athletes are all telling us what they want us to believe is the truth. So often their version of the truth is biased by their agenda. Your word is truth. That truth came from your mission to speak with the authority of your Father. Your agenda is to do the will of the Father in all things. In the synagogue you backed up your words with action by driving out a demon from a man possessed. Lord, I want to know the truth about the will of God for me. Sometimes your words conflict with my personal agenda. Give me the discernment to allow your truth to sink into my heart. Drive from me any unclean spirits that resist your teaching and the authentic teaching of your Church. Help me to listen to the prophets of our time which your Spirit inspires to lead us to the real truth. Remove any demons of stubbornness or indifference from me which block my path to you. Jesus, stir my heart and enkindle my hope and bless me with your peace. Amen.
