Wisdom 6:1-11
Psalm 82
Luke 17:11-19
“Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.” Lk 17:19
Lord, how devastating and discouraging it must be to suffer from an incurable disease. In the case of leprosy, the victims are rejected and separated from their families and community to endure their fate alone. In your compassion you healed them and gave them back their lives. Lord, I have been a leper too in that I have sinned and have been separated from the Father. Without your mercy sin is an incurable disease. Like the lepers I call out to you, “Jesus, Master! Have pity on me!” You have removed my sin and restored me to right relationship with my Father. For that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I could not heal myself. I depend on your loving forgiveness. May my faith in your healing love keep me free of sin today. I lift up to you too Lord, my family and friends who have not yet come to you to be cleansed. Move their hearts to seek your healing mercy. Amen.
