I am yours; save me… Psalm 119:94
The willing is at hand, but doing the good is not. Rom 7:25
Lord, I sure can relate to the experience Paul writes about today. He says the “spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”. How often do I know what is good, and true and proper but fail to follow through and act rightly? The temptations of my human nature are strong and can overcome me, keeping me from pleasing you. I can even act against my own self interests and continue on a path that is not good for me. When that happens I have deceived myself into thinking that what is actually evil can be good. This reality can bring me into the depths of despair if it were not for your grace, dear Lord. You understand me through and through. You know me better than I know myself. And you see clearly what is good for me. It is your love for me and it is your generous grace that gives me hope. I belong to you, dear Jesus. I humbly turn to you for you are my refuge. Today, when I drift toward the darkness keep me in your light. Thank you, Lord, everything I am and have flows from your goodness. Amen.
