…his face shown like the sun and his clothes became white as light. Matthew 17:2
Lord, it’s good for us every now and then to get back to the basics. To reset our priorities and refocus on what is truly important. Six days prior to this trek up the mountain you laid out for your followers the reason for this journey to Jerusalem and the nature of your mission: your suffering, death and resurrection. In short, the redemption of mankind. You also outlined the need of the disciples to self-deny and take up a cross. You knew very well these men needed a reset, an encouragement, a revelation of who you were and what their mission was to be. Your glorified appearance and your father’s words had to fundamentally boost their spirits for they saw the glory that lies beyond the cross. A sight and sound they would never forget. Lord, Peter, James and John represented me on that mountain. Through their witness I can fall prostrate before your mighty splendor. I give thanks for your presence. I listen to you as the Father has commanded. I am encouraged and am not afraid to follow wherever you lead. Amen.
