Micah 7:14-15, 18-20
Psalm 103
Luke 15:1-3, 11-32
He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him. Luke 15:20
Lord, we are the lost son in this story today. We become lost when we choose to abuse the inheritance of eternal life you offer us. We have gone our won way rather than live faithful to you. But we are so blessed to have a Father who daily watches and waits for our return. A Father who never gives up on us to come to senses and return home. Our Father even has a yellow ribbon tried to a tree in heaven hoping for a safe return. Lord, like the son in your story, I don’t deserve the Father’s compassion and forgiveness. I have squandered what he has entrusted to me. Yet, I am welcomed home with great joy and a huge banquet is given to honor me—a sinner. I thank you, Lord, for waiting on me to realize where I belong. I thank you for not holding my poor choices against me. Thank you for allowing me to come home. Amen.
