1 Kings 18:20-39
Psalm 16
Matthew 5:17-19
Answer me that this people may know that you, Lord, are God and that you have brought them back to their sense. 1 Kings 18:37
Lord, how often do we lose our way? How do our priorities, what we see as truly important, get messed up? The people had abandoned you and sought after idols and false gods. This dramatic show of your power woke them up as to who you were. The real miracle here, Lord, is the faith Elijah had in you. He trusted you’d hear his humble prayer and answer. His life literally depended upon your response. I confess, Lord, my faith falls short of that of your prophet. And I sometimes lose my way like the people did. But you came among us to change that. You are our Father’s answer to Elijah’s prayer and mine too. I am so grateful to you for all you do for me. All the ways you continually draw me to yourself. My prayer today is for grater faith in your presence and power in my life. I am ready to depend on you like Elijah did for everything. Amen.
