John 17:20-26
“Take courage…” Acts 23:11
“I pray for those who will believe in me through their word…” John 17:20
Lord, on the night before you gave up your life for us you prayed to your Father for all who would one day believe in you. You prayed for me. Your prayer called on God to ensure the story of your glory would be passed on to all future generations starting with your disciples. You also said that the Holy Spirit would guard and protect the truth of the Gospel forever. Just as a small spark can set an entire forest ablaze, your word has been handed on throughout history to the present day. I have received the Good News from the faithful who have come before me. Your prayer is still being answered today. My generation has the solemn duty to pass the Gospel on to those that will follow. Starting in my family and anyone with whom I can share the story of salvation. Lord, give me today the courage to pass on the joy of your good news to someone who really needs to hear it. Amen.
