APRIL 17, 2026, FRIDAY OF THE 2ND WEEK OF EASTER-A

Acts 5:34-42

Psalm 27

John 6:1-15

…rejoicing that they had been found worthy
to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name.  Acts 5:41

Lord, things can sure work out in odd ways sometimes.  My ideas of how things should go, or how I’d like them to go, can sometimes stem from pride or weakness or a desire for the easy way.  It doesn’t come natural to me to rejoice at suffering.  It’s not fun to experience dishonor or humiliation or even embarrassment because of your name.   There sure seems to be a lot of persecution of your disciples going around in our world today.   That means there is no lack of opportunities to witness to your name.  If that brings dishonor, so be it.  If living as your disciple means shame, I can take it.  Th, bring it on.  There is no better cause to die for than yours Lord.  As I recall your sufferings for me, mine are small.  With your grace dishonor is changed to joy.  A joy that no one can ever take away from me. Amen
