1 Timothy 4:12-16
Psalm 111
Luke 7:36-50
Do not neglect the gift you have… 1 Tim. 4:14
“Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” Luke 7:50
Lord, your word today is so full of truth, light and peace. St. Paul encourages his young friend Timothy to take seriously his role in the infant church. Timothy was chosen and set apart to be a leader in his community. He was given the gifts necessary to be successful in his call to preach the Good News of Christ. Some of that Good News is how you forgive our failures and weaknesses. You took pity on the sinful woman who showed you great love. She went from despair and hopelessness to peace. You shocked the Pharisee with your attention to someone he would have condemned. Lord, help me not to judge those around me who have suffered the darkness of misery and gloom. This woman may have gone on to become a saint in your kingdom. Help me to discover mercy and forgiveness when you place a sinner in my path. I ask for your forgiveness of my sins and show me the path to repent. “How great are the works of the Lord.” Psalm 111 Amen.
