Psalm 23

John 8:12-20

“Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12

Lord, many of us have tripped or stumbled while walking in the dark.  Moving about in darkness we can get lost while driving or walking to a destination.  Darkness can hide evil from our eyes.  Light reveals obstacles, signs, and the path to arrive home safely.  We so need your light, Lord, to guide us on our way.  Your words can be a light to guide our life choices.  Your grace can energize us when confronted with dangers like temptations.  Your love and mercy can show us how to live in your kingdom.  Sadly, Lord, I sometimes look for darkness to hide my sins from others and from you.  That might work for a while with people but not for a minute with you.  I so need the light of your abundant life to expose the lies I am told by the world, the evil one and my own self.  Lord, help me to separate your truth from the lies that only lead to darkness.  Thank you for leading me along the road to eternal life.  You lead; I’ll follow.  St. John, pray for us.  Amen.
