Isaiah 7:10-14
Psalm 24
Romans 1:1-7
Matthew 1:18-24
“Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid…” Matthew 1:20
Lord, your angel Gabriel said” do not be afraid, Mary.” Mary then said “Yes.” Gabriel said “Joseph, do not be afraid.” Joseph responded “Yes.” What the angel proposed to both Joseph and Mary broke all the rules. The angel asked them both to enter uncharted territory. They were led to levels of courage and faith that could only have come from the Father. With their “Yes” heaven and earth were now connected. Mankind’s salvation had begun. Lord, how grateful we are you chose such a holy and blessed couple to be your parents. You promised the abundant grace they needed to fulfill the plan to restore all mankind to the Father. Lord Jesus, today I ask for the grace to say yes to your plan for me. Like Mary and Joseph, you may ask me to stretch my faith beyond my comfort zone. You may ask me to replace my fear with confidence, or my doubt with trust. You may ask me to surrender to your plans and to let go of mine. You are Emmanuel, “God with us.” If you are with me, dear Jesus, what is there to fear? Amen.
