Psalm 67
John 5:33-36
“John was a burning and shining lamp…” John 5:33
Lord, I welcome your light shining on me. We will soon celebrate your coming among us as one just like us. Your light can expose my flaws and blemishes. But it can also be a healing light. I have no light of my own, Lord, only your presence within me. When I cooperate with you I too can shine with your light. You will provide numerous opportunities this day for me to be a light to someone. You will arrange for situations and people to whom I can be a light. I was given a lighted candle at my baptism to be light to others. Lord, keep me alert to those opportunities to be a peacemaker. Make me aware of how my silence or my words can be light. Every time I pause to pray for grace in a tense encounter I am light. Lord, show me a way today to shine your light into someone’s darkness. I am truly an imperfect lamp but you can use even a humble light with flaws. You can make my light shine in the right places and people. Thank you, Jesus, for being the light of my life. Amen.
