“Come…take your place at table.” Luke 17:7
Lord, your word today helps us see your desire for the relationships between us, your children. While you recognize the different roles among us you point out that regardless of who is called to do what we must put your values of respect, love and service into everything we do. Guide your people of America today as we choose men and women to various offices of government. We the people will be hiring servants today, Lord, so please inspire us to choose wisely. While we elect officials of government service guide us to do so with the welfare of the common good foremost in our minds. Lord, please heal the divisions among us so we can together build up your kingdom in our land. Bless and guide those who assume office to be humble servants of “we the people” and of you. You are our only true Master and Lord and all of us are subjects to your will. “Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build, Unless the Lord guard the city, in vain does the watchman keep vigil.” (Ps. 127:1) Today, Jesus, bless the United States of America. Amen.
