October 28, 2022, Friday of the 30th Week in Ordinary Time-C SAINTS SIMON AND JUDE, APOSTLES
Ephesians 2:19-22
Psalm 19
Luke 6:12-16
…you are fellow citizens with the holy one and members of the household of God. Eph. 2:19
…and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles… Lk. 6:13
Lord Jesus, I love how you spent a whole night in prayer before making a huge decision. When day came you chose the Twelve men who would be your agents to spread the good news of salvation following your death, resurrection and ascension. You didn’t go after the brilliant, the rich, the powerful. You chose ordinary people with no background in evangelization. Yet with your Holy Spirit guiding them they went out and changed the world forever. I thank you for giving us the Apostles as witnesses to your life and your teaching. What would we have become without them! Lord, I pray for our bishops today who are the successors of these awesome men. They have many challenges facing them in our culture. Please give them the courage and wisdom that you gave your Apostles. Help them to teach the truth about the Sacraments, most especially the Eucharist and Marriage. Give them a true love for the people and priests they oversee. Do not let them bend to the politics of our era but preach the word that has been entrusted to them. St. Simon and St. Jude pray for us. Amen.
