Ephesians 2:1-10
Psalm 100
Luke 12:13-21
“There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.” Luke 12:16
Lord, good planning and hard work produced an abundant crop for this farmer. Because of his shrewd decisions he accumulated a vast fortune from his harvest. Did he ever stop to thank you for the soil, water, sunshine and air that were required for his crop? Was he thankful for how you preserved his field from pests, disease or fire? Was he aware that you provided his good health to enjoy his produce? Lord, it seems you had more to do with his success than he did. So, in a way, his crop was yours and you had made him the steward of it. He refers to it as “my harvest” and “my grain.” Lord, thank you for all you’ve done for me and provided me in life. All will be gone one day but what will remain is how I used all that you put in my care. May your Spirit guide me today to proper use of your goods. Help me to see the value and blessings of what matters to you. Our psalm today says: “Give thanks to you; bless your name, for you are good.” St. Ignatius pray for me. Amen.
