God so loved the world that he gave his only Son…  John 3:16

Lord, I can’t even imagine giving my child away for anything or anybody. I would give myself before I’d do that!  But that’s what our Father did!  What more proof can we ask for than offering you up for us?  Paying the ransom for our bad behavior and poor choices. If God so willingly gave you to us to win for us eternal life, how much more will he give us everything else we need for that life? How could He hold anything back after giving up his most precious only child? Lord, may I never, ever take the gift of yourself for granted.  Remind me each day how much I am loved. How valuable a thing is can be measured by how much it costs. My value to the Father therefore is great because it cost you your life. We venerate the cross because on it you purchased our freedom from death. We are saved because you gave up your life on this cross. Lord, thank you for taking up the cross in my place.  For purchasing my freedom from eternal death and opening the doors to eternal life.  Amen.
