Luke 7:11-17

You are Christ’s body… 1 Corinthians 12:27

“God has visited his people. Luke 7:16

Lord, we often go through life as if we are alone-that I am the only one I can count on. If I don’t do it, it won’t get done! That may be true of a sink full of dirty dishes but it’s not the case in our faith lives. This woman had lost her husband and then her only son. She was devastated. She found out the day of her son’s funeral that she was not alone. Jesus, you gave her son his life back and gave him back to his mother. Paul tells the believers in Corinth they are Christ’s body on earth, each blessed with holy gifts.  He says work together like a body for the benefit of all. You brought life to a place of death. You are near to all who suffer. My brothers and sisters are your body now bringing life to places of death and suffering.  Lord, as you touched the dead man’s coffin touch me and bring to life anything that is dead in me.  I thank you, Jesus, for visiting your people and for blessing us with the greatest spiritual gifts. St. John Chrysostom, pray for us.  Amen.
