1 Corinthians 5:1-8

Psalm 5

Luke 6:6-11

“…a little yeast leavens all the dough.”  1 Corinthians 5:6

“…is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath?”  Luke 6:9

Lord, a ship navigating from one port to another will arrive there only by following the right course. Sea conditions or human error can get it off course. You constantly guide us back on course with your word.  Today you show how the people needed a course correction. Doing the right thing and doing good takes precedence over Sabbath regulations. How could they be enraged because you healed a man’s hand? St. Paul also wanted to correct the course of the Christians in Corinth to accept the new yeast of the gospel which is a renewed attitude and motive of the heart. Change of the heart is sometimes a very difficult task for us. Your gospel teaches kindness and forgiveness, love and patience rather than only rules and regulations. Lord, I want my relationship with you built on good intentions, attitudes and motives rather than hypocrisy. If my course needs to be corrected, Lord, show me the direction, the change, you desire.  Please guide me to a more faithful life. Small changes over time can have big results.  Amen.
