Psalm 40

Luke 12:35-38

…through one righteous act acquittal and life came to all.  Rom. 5:18

“Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.” Lk. 12:37

Lord, Paul’s words pretty much sum up the basics of our faith.  We are sinners in need of a savior.  You gave your life to rescue us from the punishment we deserved for our disobedience.  The trial is over and we have been acquitted of our crimes.  All because you were born among us and died for our salvation.  The rift between us and the Father has been closed and we are saved by you.  So what am I to do now since my wound has been healed?  You tell us in the gospel to be “vigilant.”  You tell us to live like we’ve been saved.  Lord, I give you all the credit for the hope I have to enter eternal life.  You have even provided an abundance of grace to help me stay awake and to serve you while waiting for the day you bring me home.  I thank you so much for the opportunity to give you the glory you so deserve.  I ask for your help to reject the darkness of sin which can be so attractive.  Your grace and goodness is greater than my sin.  Thank you.  Amen.
