Mary stayed outside the tomb weeping. John 20:11
Lord, how much you loved Mary of Magdala. How much she loved you. You chose her to be the first to see you risen from the tomb. What a way to honor your close friend. She was so devoted to you. She ran to tell others when she saw the stone removed from your grave. She wept not knowing what had happened to your body. You rewarded her faithfulness by showing yourself to her and letting her touch you. Her faith grew leaps and bounds that day. She first called you “Teacher” then she addressed you as her Lord. I wish I had known Mary Magdalene. She inspires me by her love and fidelity to you. Mary’s open heart allowed her to experience firsthand the joy of your resurrection. She was the first of billions of us to be so blest. Lord, may I too be filled with the joy of being your disciple. And may I too run to tell everyone the good news that you are alive and near to all. St. Mary Magdalene pray for us. Amen.
