June 24, 2022, THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS-C
Ezekiel 34:11-16
Psalm 23
Romans 5:5-11
Luke 15:3-7
“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it?” Luke 15:4
Lord, I must admit that if you asked me this question, I would probably be stunned into silence to come to an answer. I would likely mumble something like “a shepherd who would do that would risk losing all his sheep to wolves or some other danger. He would probably lose his job and not be hired by another. Such a foolish action endangers the entire flock. I guess that is your point, isn’t it? You are so head-over-heels in love with me you would do anything to bring me back to safety. Your heart would be broken if I could not be found. Lord, I thank you for your desperate actions to rescue lost sheep. I’m thinking of the most extreme desperate way: your cruel and agonizing death on the cross. You love and mercy are without limits. I love to gaze on your most Sacred Heart because it tells me how much I am valued. I believe in your promise of a joyful reunion in heaven for me or anyone of my family that repents and is carried triumphantly home on your shoulders. Amen.
