Psalm 60
Matthew 7:1-5
“Stop judging, that you may not be judged.” Matthew 7:1
Lord, why is it so easy for me to spot the faults of others? Is it because in my mind I want to exalt myself over them? Or is it because their sins live within me and I am familiar with them? Whatever the reason, you urge me to get my own house in order before I meddle in the sins of others. You even go so far as to point out that the judgement I dish out to others is the judgement I will receive. I think, Lord, sometimes I assume that I know all there is to know about my brother’s or sister’s life. But in truth I don’t. I have never really walked even a mile in his or her shoes. So, Lord, today help me to examine my own life in light of your word. Help me to remove the beams in my eyes, my own bad habits and clean up my act. Change my ways of judgement to ways of understanding and compassion. I choose to forgive as you do. I choose to give others a break. “Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.” Amen.
