“Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.” Mark 10:47
Lord, I am the blind beggar Bartimaeus sitting on the side of the road. In most of your miracles the name of the person healed is unknown. They are known only by their infirmity or illness. But the world knows my name! My life is going nowhere. But today you heard my plea for pity. Others have tried to silence me but I’ll not be quiet. When you called me I threw off my old way of life that identified me as a sinner in need of healing and salvation. I leapt to my feet eager to receive your healing and forgiving mercy. I only wanted to be able to see but with just a word you opened my eyes of faith and gave me salvation. Lord, when I meet you I have hope. I have joy over my new life. I will follow you today to see more of your power to transform hearts to love. Thank you for taking pity on me and for releasing me from the power of darkness. You answered my prayer by opening the eyes of my heart. Amen.
