Jonah 4:1-11
Psalm 86
Luke 11:1-4
Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry with God… Jonah 4:1
“…your kingdom come.” Lk. 11:2
Lord, Jonah was very upset and angry with you because you did not do to his enemy what he wanted you to do. He prayed that you would destroy them so he would be satisfied. His idea of justice was not your concept of justice. That’s because his justice did not include mercy like yours did. Lord, I so often pray to you and ask for certain outcomes and blessings and when your answer doesn’t meet my standards, I can get upset too. Like your disciples, teach me how to pray better. Show me how to connect with our Father in a more intimate way. I want my prayers to be fruitful and loving and not just a laundry list of things I want. I know you are good and forgiving and full of kindness every time I call upon you. I know you look into my heart and see my real needs. The needs you want to fulfill for me. Lord, show me a better path to pray to you. Help me to connect with our Father in a more loving and confident way. I plead with you to let your kingdom come upon me and my family. Amen.
