2 Corinthians 11:18, 21-30

Psalm 34

Matthew 6:19-23

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall be ever in my mouth.  Ps. 34:2

“For where your treasure is there also will your heart be.”  Matthew 6:21

Lord, you point out how the things of this world are so temporary. The landfill is full of the stuff for which we work and crave. One day the sun will expand and swallow up the Earth and all physical matter destroyed. Before then we will all lie naked in the grave. We have around us so many distractions, so many false idols, so many temporal things. Lord, you want us to seek for security ultimately in eternal things. I could ask myself what would I carry out from my home if I had to escape a fire or flood. While I live, Lord, help me put my priorities in right order. Show me what really matters for my eternal salvation and for those around me. Lord help me to be strong where I am weak. Help me to not be distracted by attractive things that blind me to your goodness, love and mercy. Set my heart on things above like love, service, loyalty, honesty, humility and not the things below. I believe your grace can lead me to where you want me to be.  Today, Lord, lead me to have a heart like yours.  Amen.
