“It is like a mustard seed…” Mark 4:31
Lord, great things can have very small beginnings. Attitudes, habits, love, hate—all can enter our hearts almost unnoticed. Over time these things can develop and grow. They can become well established and dominate our gardens for good or for evil. Your parables explain the mysteries of your kingdom to us in ways we can understand. Lord, may the values and blessings of your kingdom be like the tiny mustard seed. I welcome it planted in my heart to be nurtured by you to become whatever you desire. Beginning in very small ways may I, one day at a time, cooperate with your Spirit to be fertile ground for praise, gratitude, hopefulness and love. May the virtues of purity, self-giving, patience, a charitable heart, openness to your truth, humility and a peaceful attitude grow within me. May I reject all that is opposed to you no matter how small it may seem at the time. I pray for a fruitful spirit, not for mine, but for your glory. Grow the seeds of your kingdom within me always. Amen.
