June 7, 2021 Monday Week 10 in Ordinary Time-B
2 Corinthians 1:1-7
Psalm 34
Matthew 5:1-12
“Blessed are you…” Matthew 5:11
Lord, I know your words are true and you would never lead me astray. But these words can be hard to see the logic in. You tell me that the poor in spirit, the mourning and the meek are blessed. You say happiness comes to the merciful, the peacemakers and the persecuted. All of this collides with the world’s view. Your happiness is not the world’s happiness. Lord, my faith tells me your happiness is in seeing me be clean of heart by avoiding those sins I am drawn to. You and I can share these values of mercy, peacefulness and meekness to both be happy. Lord, enlighten my eyes of faith today to see how these values lead to happiness in your kingdom. When I am truly happy, I’m living the kingdom life. I will “bless you at all times and your praise shall be ever in my mouth.”(Ps. 34:1) I’m called to praise you at all times, not just when things are going well. Thank you for setting me straight and for making my heart like yours. I feel happier already! Amen.
