Tobit 11:5-17
Psalm 146
Mark 12:35-37
Praise the Lord, O my soul; I will sing praise to my God while I live. Ps. 146:1
“How do the scribes claim that the Messiah is the son of David?” Mk. 12:35
Lord, today you are asking the questions. Your opponents denied your identify and relationship with the Father. The religious authorities were silenced but the crowd was delighted. You posed the same question to Peter. “Who do you say that I am?” It is a question I must answer for myself. You are either Lord of my life or you are not. Lord, this is the most important question I’ll ever answer. For you to be my Lord and my God I must empty myself of all the other gods in my life. I must place you above my possessions, money, my passions and my love of myself. Dear Jesus, you know that this is a daily battle for me. I can’t let you be king of my heart, master of my home, my thoughts, relationships and everything else without the help of your Holy Spirit. Lord, my spirit is willing but my flesh is weak. Bring me close to you and free me from any attachments that separate me from you. Be Lord of my life. I delight in the many blessings you have given me and I “sing praise to you while I live. Amen.
